14256151 Audience Statement: With over 15 international editions, The Huffington Post can be described as a one stop online access for its readers to be informed of politics, business, lifestyle, and many more topics. According to the demographics provided from the Nielson Company, the clear majority of readers are well educated, most of which having a post-graduate degree1. This means that most of the readers are above the age of 19, and that using inappropriate diction (e.g. teen slang) could potentially characterize my writing as immature, thus deterring readers from the article. Moreover, images added into the article should not disrupt the tone, but instead, further elucidate my concepts. In addition, I plan to use a style of writing that is intellectually stimulating in accordance to the audience’s level of education. Since my audience includes people with a variety of educational backgrounds, scientific and psychological terms should be clearly defined so that all readers are ab le to understand the context of the article. However, such formal language should not restrict my writing to be perceived as dull and unengaging. Instead, I will try to deliver my writing in a way that will be informative, compelling, and easily understood by readers.
